Service | Aging | Kindness

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 19:19).

An eighty-five-year-old woman was interviewed on her birthday by a reporter from her small-town weekly newspaper. “You seem so at peace with yourself and the world,” said the reporter. “What advice can you give to readers your age?” “Well,” said the dear old lady, “I’d give them the same advice I’d give to people of all ages. I’d tell them that it’s important to use all our potential for service to others, or it dries up. That’s what keeps us alive and well and at peace.” “What about your daily routine?” the reporter asked. “I look after an old lady in the neighborhood,“ was the unexpected reply from that delightful eighty-five-years-young woman.
