Creative Love

God has not fashioned us to cope with life on earth in isolation. Because we are who we are, because we are who God intends us to be, we have a built-in need for support. Our clearest earthly vision of life’s meaning and purpose (which is infinitely beyond the reasoning power of mankind) comes to us in and through our acts of mutual support, mutual caring, mutual love, as we move together toward the inevitable Winter. Winter must come! Winter will come for each of us. but we have God’s promise — a gilt-edged guarantee — that our mutual caring and sharing will sustain our earnest hope for a new and eternal Springtime to follow.

I we were to go out and ask the first ten people we meet to give us a “Rule of life” to live by, we would likely hear ten different versions. but, even so, even if the reasoning power of mankind proposes a hundred or a thousand different versions,…
