If your life seems to be in a rut, if everything seems to get you down, if you don’t seem to be growing spiritually, if the development of your personhood seems to have ceased, it’s not that God isn’t giving you light; it’s that you are “putting it under a tub” (as Jesus puts it in today’s Gospel Lesson).
We do well to consider this in the light of all the turmoil and the rebellion in the Church in recent years. Large numbers of people have turned off the Church in these times and, as we look back for reasons, we realize that we have built walls around ourselves and we have not shared God’s life with the world.…
