A little boy got into an argument with some lads twice his size. He drew a line in the dirt and dared them to cross it. The big boys accepted the challenge and crossed over the line. Whereupon the little fellow smiled and said, “Now you’re on my side.”
That’s something that all parents of small children should remember always. Small children in your care and under your control need desperately to know that you are on their side; that you’re with them and for them; that they can trust you to genuinely care for them.
That goes for all of us, really. If we want to be part of the movement of all creation toward unifying wholeness, we have got to think of the children. In the midst of our heated debates, whether they are family disputes or neighborhood disputes or disputes between nations, we have got to rise up and speak up on behalf of the children. “What is this division…
