A little boy was behaving perfectly at the Baptism of his infant sister — until the pastor started sprinkling water on the little one’s bald head. Seeing this, the lad leaned forward and said, in a loud voice, “Behind her ears too. Don’t forget behind her ears.”
In terms of all that Baptism symbolizes, it’s even more than over the head and behind the ears. It’s everything, from top to bottom — “from the top of your head to the tip of your toes” (to quote from an old song). And, more than that, it’s the dedication of body and soul to life in Christ. Moreover, such dedication comes at a high price.
