The husband had a worried look on his face when he sat down to have a heart-to-heart talk with his wife. After a few false starts, he said to her …
“Sweetheart, just suppose I were to tell you that I had made some bad investments, and had lost money gambling and everything we had was gone: the house gone, the cars gone, the insurance gone, the bank accounts gone, the stocks and bonds gone — everything gone! Now, if I were to tell you all that, would you still love me?”
The wife thought about it for a moment, then answered, “Honey, I would always love you, but I sure would miss you!”
Jesus doesn’t promise us a rose-garden for our life’s journey. Neither does He promise us houses and cars and gambling money and stocks and bonds and insurance policies. Rather, He promises us “abundant life,” a promise that is never withdrawn. He loves us that much and He always will!
