A businessman’s wife and their three-year-old daughter were seeing him off at the airport. Waiting at the departure gate, they were informed over the public address system that the flight would be delayed due to heavy fog conditions. The mother explained to the child her daddy wouldn’t be leaving for a while. “The plane has been grounded,” she said. “Why was it grounded,” the little girl asked, “did it disobey its parents?”
The mother of a fifteen-year-old girl was anxious about her daughter’s recently acquired independent attitude. Among other things, she had been spending most of her allowance on perfume, contrary to her mother’s instructions. Finally, the mother said to her daughter, “Didn’t I tell you not to use so much perfume? I can smell it a mile away!” “But mother,” the girl replied, “I love this perfume. It’s called “Gorgeous,” and when I wear Gorgeous, I feel gorgeous.” To which the mother replied, “I wish you would wear one called “Obedient.”
