Because he was close to the seat of power for many years, a former White House Staff member is a frequent speechmaker. And more often than not, he ends his speeches with an episode from the life of a friend whom he describes as the happiest man on earth. “One day,” he says, “I asked my friend for the secret to his happiness. I saw a lovable grin come over his face. Then he gave me this answer:
