A fourth-grader seemed perplexed as he lingered over his homework assignment. Finally, he called out, “Mom, I need your help. I have to write a paper about ‘The Person I Admire Most,’ and I think I’ll write about you. But I need you to tell me some of the things I admire about you.”
In today’s Gospel Lesson, we hear Jesus instructing His listeners about some of the things they should admire about Him. “Come to Me,” He says, “come to Me all you who labor and are over-burdened, and I will give you rest … learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Mt. 11:28-29).
And so we come together, with Jesus in our midst, seeking rest for our souls. Let’s face it, we all are overburdened in some way or other!
