After serving on a jury in a case involving fraud, one of the jurors wrote down an account of the trial as he saw it. It read, in part,

The prosecuting attorney made a two-hour opening statement. Then the defense attorney approached the jury box to deliver his opening statement. He was a rather brash young man whose hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail, held together by a rubber band. When he neared the jury box, he raised his arm up and ripped off the rubber band.
