A British newspaper ran a story reported by the staff members of the Dorsett County Hospital. It concerned a little boy’s personal account of his recent tonsilectomy at the hospital. He said, “When I went into the big room there were two lady angels dressed in white. Then two men angels in white came in. One of the men angels looked down my throat and said, ‘God! Look at that child’s tonsils.’ Then God looked and said, ‘I’ll take them out at once.

When listening to Matthew’s Gospel story of Joseph being visited in a dream by an angel, there is an unavoidable tendency in us conjure up childish images of a silken-haired figure clad in a flowing lily-white gown and sporting a pair of very large wings.
