“How come you never got married?” Harry asked Tom. “To tell you the truth,” said Tom, “I have spent the last ten years looking for the perfect woman. In my travels I met a beautiful and intelligent woman, with lovely dark eyes — but she was not kind. Then I met a woman who was wonderful and generous, but we had nothing in common, and her conversation was dull. One woman after another would seem just right at first, but there would always be something missing — some lack of perfection. Then, one day, I met her. She was beautiful, intelligent, generous, kind and a wonderful conversationalist. We had everything in common. In fact, she was perfect!” Whereupon Harry asked, “What happened? Why didn’t you marry her?” To which Tom replied sadly, “Because she was looking for the perfect man.”1
