Fairy tales can come true
It can happen to you
If you’re young at heart
So sings Frank Sinatra on his recording of the song “Young At Heart.” It is a reminder that even though, at a certain level of our beings, we all share in the sadness of cynicism and doubt and unbelief, there is a deeper level at which we share out best dreams and imaginings — as if we were born yesterday, children still: young at heart.
No matter how forgotten and neglected, there is a child in all of us who is willing to believe in the possibility that maybe fairy tales can come true after all; willing to believe in mystery and miracles: dreams come true. “I tell you solemnly,” Jesus said, “anyone who does not welcome the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it” (Lk. 18:17).
