After the Vision

There are moments in life when everything seems to fall into place—when what has been confusing suddenly becomes clear, when what has felt hidden is briefly revealed. We recognize those moments instinctively. We do not need to be told they matter. We feel their weight as they happen.

The Transfiguration is such a moment.

Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, away from the crowds, away from the misunderstandings and demands that have followed him. There is no miracle to perform, no sermon to deliver, no one to heal. There is only presence. Only seeing.

And there, before them, Jesus is changed. His face shines like the sun. His clothes become white as light. Moses and Elijah appear, speaking with him—figures who embody the Law and the Prophets. For a moment, the veil is drawn back. The disciples are allowed to see what has been true all along.

It is no wonder Peter speaks.

“Lord, it is good that we are here,”…
