Good morning girls and boys! We read in our Bibles today that Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd. I know My own and My own know Me . . . and I lay down my life for my sheep.” Why do you suppose Jesus is talking about sheep boys and girls? Well Jesus often used stories to help people understand what He was teaching. In fact, Jesus has been called the greatest storyteller and the greatest teacher of all time. And in today’s Lesson, He uses the example of the sheep and the shepherd to teach us.
In Jesus’ time, the shepherd knew every single sheep in the flock. He knew what they looked like. He knew how they walked. To most people, all sheep look pretty much alike. But the ancient shepherds learned to know each of their flock’s individual members. He would even name them if they had a physical problem like “Blind Eye,”…
