One evening a father was helping his daughter with a school project about money. Trying to explain why things cost more than they used to, he said, “It’s called inflation — a dollar just doesn’t go as far as it once did.”
His daughter thought for a minute and then asked, “If a dollar doesn’t go as far as it used to, why don’t the stores know that?”
He smiled, realizing she’d touched on a truth that runs deeper than economics. Maybe the world really doesn’t know what things are worth anymore. We trade time for hurry, love for convenience, faith for certainty, and still end up feeling like something’s missing.
And that, in a way, is where Advent begins — not in answers but in ache. It begins with the recognition that the world is weary, that our hearts are crowded, that something within us still longs to be found. Advent calls across the noise and reminds us that God’s answer to human restlessness…
