Our Good Looks

At a married couples’ retreat, the participants were asked to write a one-sentence answer to the question, “Whether born into the faith or otherwise drawn into the it, why do you now remain a Christian?” One husband and wife answered as follows:

“We now remain Christians because of our good looks.”

Later, when the participants were asked to write detailed explanations of their one-sentence replies, the “good looks” couple responded as follows …

Last year we began to seriously question our Christianity, and therefore our reasons for going to church, supporting the church and so on. And then Christmas came and we went to church, and we prayed the prayers and we sang the hymns and we listened to the sermon.
