Student parking spaces were extremely scarce at a large University. As a result, anyone who parked illegally received a ticket. The student who topped the list of violators one year said, “I didn’t realize how many violations I had until I returned to school after summer vacation. In the comments portion of my first parking ticket of the new school year, the campus police officer wrote, ‘Welcome back!'”
In the early part of World War II, when it seemed that England was about to be invaded, Winston Churchill rallied the people with these memorable words:
We shall fight them on the beaches. We shall fight them in the fields, and in the streets. We shall fight them in the hills. When asked to comment on these words in freshman history class, one student said, “It sounds just like our family vacations.”
