In his bestselling book “When Bad Things Happen to Good People,” the late American rabbi, author, and lecturer Harold Kushner wrote: “People who pray for miracles usually don’t get miracles. But people who pray for courage, strength to bear the unbearable, and the grace to remember what they have left instead of what they have lost often find their prayers answered. Their prayers helped them tap hidden reserves of faith which were not available to them before.”
A man who was battling a terminal illness was told by his doctor that everything humanly possible had been done for him. “Now you must put your trust in God,” the doctor said. To which the man replied, “Has it come to that?”
As a people of Faith, we must acknowledge that it always comes to that. Therefore, as a people of faith, we begin with that. God is never a last resort!
