An old legend from India tells of a huge elephant and a tiny mouse …
They became close friends. Everywhere they went they walked side-by-side. One day, they came upon a long, narrow bridge suspended over a deep gully. Side-by-side they stepped onto the bridge and proceeded to walk across. When they stepped off the bridge together, the tiny mouse said to the elephant, “Wow! We sure made that old bridge shake!”
The little mouse was rightly proud of his contribution to that bridge-shaking event. Of course, the elephant had made a total contribution by putting his full weight into the effort. But so did the mouse. Each had given it all he had to give.
