Imagine what might have taken place if the twelve Apostles had submitted formal job applications to Jesus before they were chosen …

The application might have been forwarded to a team of management consultants for review and recommendations. And Jesus might have received the following report:

“Thank you for submitting the resumes of the twelve men you are considering for management positions in your new organization. All of them have taken our battery of tests, and we have run the results through our computer. It is the staff opinion that most of your nominees are lacking in skills suited for the type of work you are undertaking.

For example, Simon Peter appears to be somewhat emotionally unstable, and given to fits of temper. Andrew demonstrates a lack of leadership ability. James and John would tend to place personal interests above company policy. Thomas reveals a questioning attitude and his persistent doubting would likely undermine morale.
