A young boy was looking out a classroom window: daydreaming. Suddenly, the teacher’s voice startled him. “What are you looking at out there? What do you see?” The boy struggled to find an answer. Finally he said, “I see the horizon”… Teacher: “And have you ever walked to the horizon?” Boy: “No, I am too young.” Teacher: “Someday you will.” Boy: “And what will I find when I get there?” Teacher: “When you get there, you will discover another horizon far beyond.” Boy: “And if I walk again?” Teacher: “If you walk again you will know that the second horizon is merely a starting place toward the third.” Boy: “Will my life then be one of always losing horizons?” Teacher: “No, of always finding them.”1
Like the Apostles in today’s Gospel Lesson, we pray, “Lord, increase our Faith” (Lk. 17:5). Lord, show us ever new horizons! Lord, inspire our belief as never before!
