Divine Influence,

One of the most wondrous things about God is that you never know when He is going to break through all your defenses and call you into a deeper relationship with Himself — and, therefore, into a richer and fuller life. It is part of God’s nature to keep on doing that with us. It is part of what John meant when he told us that God is Love. It is part of what Paul meant when he spoke of the Gracious God. It is part of what Matthew meant when he told us the simple and beautiful story of Jesus calling four strong, good men at the beginning of His ministry:

As He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately, they left their nets and…
