Down through the Ages, women and men of every rank and station in life have been trying to put their little glimpses of the Creator into words. “Be exalted, O Lord in Thy strength. We will sing and praise Thy power,” the ancient Psalmist sang (Ps. 21:13). Later, the same Psalmist caught a glimpse of the creative power of God reflected in the incredibly complex construction of the human body. “Thou didst form my inward parts,” he sang. “Thou didst knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise Thee, for Thou art fearful and wonderful. Wonderful art Thy works!” (Ps. 139:13-14).
The physiological facts about the human body truly are astounding. And as science continues to add to the known facts, they become more and more astounding. For example, we know that in a postage-stamp size piece of human skin there are 12 feet of nerves, 100 sweat glands, 15 oil glands, 3 feet of blood vessels and 3 million assorted cells. There…
