In today’s Gospel Lesson, we hear Jesus say to His followers,
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hilltop cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on a lampstand, where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in Heaven” (Mt. 5:14-16).
One of the twentieth century’s greatest political and spiritual leaders Mohandas Gandhi has famously written, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
Through our good works, through our example in imitation of the good works of Jesus Christ, we are called to project the Light into the world. Through your example, may the Light of the World shine like a beacon radiating God’s Love. And as we learn here, week after week, the fruits of the Light…
