That Long, Lost Wow!

... anyone who does not welcome the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it
Scripture

Mark 10:1
Genesis 2:18-24; Psalms 128:1-6; Hebrews 2:9-11; Mark 10:2-16

A school secretary received a phone call. A shaky voice on the other end of the line stammered, “Robert Martindale won’t be in school today.” The secretary, a bit suspicious of the nervous caller asked, “And just who is speaking?” The squeaky voice answered, “My father.”

In today’s Gospel Lesson, Jesus is speaking to a crowd in steady and certain terms about His Father’s promise to fulfill them in His Kingdom of love. And many in the crowd brought their children so that Jesus might touch them. When the disciples try to “shoo” them away, Jesus rebukes them saying, “Let the children come to Me, do not stop them, for it is to such as these the Kingdom of God belongs. I tell you solemnly, anyone who does not welcome the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it” (Mk. 10:14-15). What was Jesus saying?

In order to understand this we must begin with the reality of God’s love for us.…
