As the story goes, a newly promoted corporate executive was so puffed up with pride that he couldn’t help bragging about his new title to anyone who would listen. Fed up, one of his co-workers finally said, “You know — these days vice-presidents are a dime-a-dozen. In fact, the title is getting so ridiculous that my supermarket even has a vice-president in charge of french fries.” The highly competitive V.P. was not only insulted, he was skeptical. So he phoned the store and asked in a sarcastic tone if he could speak to the vice-president in charge of french fries. The voice on the other end hesitated for a moment and then asked, “waffle fries or crinkle cut?”
