The Gospels tell us that Jesus of Nazareth came among His people, loving them, healing them, bringing them the Good News of how much God loves them, and how they could have wholeness of life, if they only said “Yes!” to God.

He came doing so much good, and yet, the religious people, the educated people, the leading citizens of the time rejected Him instantly and, almost before He had begun, they killed Him. But, why?

What was really at the root of their problem with Jesus? Why the fear, and then the anger, and then the hatred? Why did they react in this manner to Jesus’ Presence among them?

I cannot vouch for its accuracy, but there was a national poll taken several years ago in which the question was asked, “What would happen if Jesus came back again?” The poll-takers reported that the majority of people thought that He would be killed again, only this time even more quickly.
